Seeing Maharṣi Viśvāmitra succeeding in creating a new Heaven and placing King Triśaṅku as the new Indra God there, made the original Gods in Heaven Loka feel uneasy. After having attended a meeting, it was finally decided that the Gods would visit Maharṣi Viśvāmitra, to request him to revoke the "heaven of his creation".

The Gods led by Indra God then went to Maharṣi Viśvāmitra, and with all sorts of persuasion, requested Maharṣi Viśvāmitra to revoke his new Heaven's creation. The Gods gave various reasons regarding the new Heaven's creation, mainly because it was against the laws of nature. However, Maharṣi Viśvāmitra as a Maharṣi who had given his words to King Triśaṅku, would not take back his own words.

After long hours and tough negotiations, Maharṣi Viśvāmitra tried to fulfil the demands of the Gods, and finally, an agreement was reached that the new Heaven remained. The new Heaven will be given the name ‘The Heaven of Triśaṅku’. The reason was that King Triśaṅku was ruling there, which certainly would not be a rival to Indra God. The guarantee was given by Maharṣi Viśvāmitra by promising the Gods that King Triśaṅku would be in heaven in an upside-down position, with his head down.

The Heaven of Triśaṅku is interpreted as a constellation that is very close to Earth. The place is "hanging" in the middle of Earth and Heaven and can be seen with the naked eye. In everyday conversations in India, the word "Triśaṅku" is also used to indicate when a person’s location or situation is unclear, anything between his original position and the destination he is heading to.

This story does not invite the reader to focus on King Triśaṅku and/or his position in astronomy, but the story will tell about the son of King Triśaṅku who is very famous and the idol of all, named Mahārāja Hariścandra. It should be because the writing of the Devanagar letter is Hariścandra, sometimes it will be written Hariscandra, sometimes Hariścandra, as you wish to write it. Enjoy Mahārāja Hariścandra's story.
